THE STATE MODEL Every decision maps to one named outcome, never an ambiguous verb: Responded, Planned, Snoozed (returns on a date), Waiting on them (their move, not your failure), Let go (closed on purpose). Promises are typed the same way — I’ll reach out, We made plans, Waiting on them — so a relationship state never looks like an overdue task. Nothing says “overdue”; it says needs a new plan.
